It has recently been reported in the Jamaican media that Chris Armond, the chief executive officer at Caymanas Park, Jamaica, has resigned to take up a lucrative position as technical adviser to the T&T Racing Authority (TTRA) and Betting Levy Board (BLB) in mid-February.

A few decades ago secondary school students would have to resort to “breaking biche” in order to cut classes. If they got caught they faced painful corrective consequences.

Open letter to Port-of-Spain Mayor Louis Lee Sing:

In an article in your newspaper on February 9, titled “Nikkiland driven by Crosby’s love for children” by Cherisse Moe, it is reported that Nikki Crosby holds the record for staging the country’s first all-inclusive children’s party. That is incorrect.

It is with utter disdain that I am forced to express my uneasiness concerning a mice infestation at a prestigious girls secondary school on Harris Promenade in San Fernando. Three weeks ago, mice were sighted on the compound and recently, teachers were met with mice droppings on their desks.

Open letter to Housing Minister Roodal Moonilal:

Thursday, February 17, 2011

I was astonished at the announcements by the chairman of the T&T Racing Authority, Derek Chin, that horse racing was going to Caroni. The very confident chairman promised that there would be racing on Wednesday nights and Sundays and a Caribbean Breeders Cup will be staged at Caroni in 2014...

I would like to urge the mayor of Port-of-Spain, Louis Lee Sing, to shop at the Central Market on weekends. It is hard enough leaving there with empty pockets but to also leave on a stretcher is a distinct possibility.

It is more than a little ironic for our CoP to be advising the population against using excessive force when confronted by the most brutal and savage home invaders, such as recently happened to the Hosein and Ali families in Barrackpore.

It was shocking to see the behaviour of some female students of a prestige school in San Fernando a few days ago.  I was in a food court in a plaza at the top of High Street when I observed these students carrying on in a most raucous way.

We wish to add our voice to the many that have written in tribute to Keith Smith. We wish to acknowledge the influence that Smith had on this organisation from its early days because of his great interest in Port-of-Spain.
