Oil prices rose past US$87 a barrel yesterday, as investors focused on President Barack Obama's ideas for more jobs and overhaul corporate taxes. Benchmark oil for February delivery rose US$1.14 to settle at US$87.33 a barrel in afternoon trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
