Same old, same old budget
It is no secret that we are seeing hard times and I don’t believe that there is anyone who is not being affected.
The Prime Minister has made several calls asking the national community to “tighten their belts.”
I believe this is a reasonable request as we all have a responsibility to assist in turning things around.
The problem we are facing is that we are being asked to adjust, but for the Government it’s business as usual, except for a of couple tax increases and reduction of subsidies and transfers.
It seems to me that the annual budget presentation is simply a template in which the finance minister makes a couple edits and presents to the nation.
The national community is eagerly searching for change. One of those changes is how the government handles our financial affairs.
Albert Einstein defines insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. The Government must be insane if it believes that it can continue to manage our finances in the same antiquated manner.
They need to take a different approach, they need to be creative and they need to come up with new ideas.
The national community needs to insist on holistic government reform because it cannot be business as usual.
