Bring laws to save environment
Once again, World Environment Day has been celebrated with an outpouring of sentiments from all and sundry on the devastating effects that plastics and styrofoam have on our daily lives. Every day on the news we are informed of the damage and it can be witnessed first hand in any water course, drain or canal in sweet T&T, but still no laws to control its use.
To me, it is inconceivable that legislation, active throughout a vast majority of First, Second, and Third World countries, is still being debated in T&T after 20 years. Where does that place T&T?
Why is it that our lawmakers always have to attempt to reinvent the wheel with voluminous, complicated laws when there are any number of simple straightforward, successful examples to choose from and implement, maybe with minor tweaks? I have my own opinion and will really like to hear yours.
