Maloney Pacers hosts breakfast fund-raiser
Players of the Maloney Pacers Basketball Club and youth development programme will be hosting a “Breakfast Fund-raiser” to raise funds that will go towards travelling expenses for the FIBA/Antilles 3x3 International Youth Championships, set for St Lucia next weekend, where they will represent T&T.
Pacers will take their talents to tackle the best the region has to offer in the boy’s competition.
Representing T&T in the girls’ division is Enterprise Golden Stars, led by former outstanding player and head coach Eric Knights.
Both teams emerged winners of the inaugural National Under-17 3x3 Championships hosted by the National Basketball Federation of T&T’s (NBFTT) late last year.
The Maloney team fund-raiser is carded to run from 7 am – 11 am on Sunday at the Maloney Indoor Sports Arena.
The breakfast menu includes roasted, fried, sada and coconut bakes with a variety of fillings like saltfish, smoked herring, baigan choka, pumpkin choka, potato choka, sausage, egg, and cheese. The drinks options are coffee, tea bags and fresh juice. Sweetbreads and cakes are also on sale.
Each breakfast costs $30.
Spartan Basketball Fiesta in July
It’s time for young basketballers to get their dribbling, passing and shooting into gear in preparation for the upcoming Spartans Basketball Fiesta titled: “Don’t bring your name, bring your game!”
The Jean Pierre Complex in Mucurapo will be taken over by the youngsters from July 7 – 9 as they battle for trophies and hampers in five age-group categories—Under-10, U-12, U-14, U-16 and U-18 for both boys and girls.
Registration is $200 and the first jump ball will be at 6 pm on the opening day, with action running until 10 pm. The following two days will begin at 9 am and end at 6 pm.
