Soca Warriors, Suriname in friendly
The T&T Football Association has secured an international friendly match for this country’s Senior Men’s football team next month.
Only a day after new coach Dennis Lawrence announced his local training squad, and asked about possible friendly matches as part of the Soca Warriors preparation before the next round of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, at a press conference at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo, comes a friendly clash with Suriname.
The teams will clash on March 10 at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium in Paramaribo, Suriname.
The game will fall in line with team’s build up to the two 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Panama and Mexico on March 24th and 28th at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
Lawrence will commence a training camp on Monday with a 27-man squad that he recently selected. Lawrence said the friendly matches were being arranged specifically for the local players.
“I think is important is to work with the local players from now. The Pro League will be concluded on Sunday. So what I have done is selected the local players to work with the local players and to start building on some, so that these players will be able to push for a position on the team, come March 24,” he said
