Six T&T players reach Carebaco finals in Tacarigua
Top ranked Boys Under-17 Leon Cassie was among six T&T players to reach the finals round of their respective age-groups yesterday, in the Junior Caribbean Badminton Championship the National Racquet Centre, Tacarigua.
In his semi-final, Cassie overcame Barbadian Shomari Smith 21-8, 21-11 and will face Daiel Acotsa of Dominican Republic who stopped Jamaican Mikael Williams 21-15, 21-12.
The other local players to book places in singles final were Nadav Singh (Boys Under-11), top ranked Amara Urquhart and T’Shelle Barnes in the Girls Under-11; Travis Sinanan (Boys Under-13) and Reece Marcano (Boys Under-15)
T&T also enjoyed a productive day in doubles competition with both Under-11 finals set to feature an all-T&T battle.
The Under-13 Boys will also be an all-local affair, while the host country will be represented in the Under-13 Girls and Under-15 Boys Doubles deciders as well, along with the Mixed Doubles Under-11 gold medal match.
The tournament enters day four today.
