Dr Lackram Bodoe wants to intervene.

South West cricket has been in the doldrums for quite a while and this has caught the attention of member of parliament for Fyzabad Dr. Lackram Bodoe, who wants to make an intervention.

According to Bodoe, "In the past we have had some outstanding cricketers coming out of the South West area. We have had the former West Indies player Gus Logie, there were guys like Mahadeo Bodoe and also Wilfred Debisette. Now the cricket here is not the same and we must no longer sit by and let it continue. I am looking to find ways to support the South West Zone executive so that they can bring on stream a better route for our cricketers in the surrounding communities.

He said, “I am in no way looking to try and take over or side step the present administration. In fact, these guys would have done a good job with what they had to work with and now I am looking to see what I can do to help and to add to what they have being doing so that better and more cricketers will be produced by the Zone.”

"Cricket is interwoven into our society and we can use it to assist many young people and give them something meaningful to do. Since becoming the member of parliament for Fyzabad I have assisted with getting better facilities in the constituency and I want to see more and more people coming out and using it and this will lead to a healthier lifestyle,” said the medical doctor.

Bodoe pointed out that, “I'm so happy to visit the opening of some of the leagues, like those in Massahood and also at Vijay Sports and I saw so many people attending. This has given me hope that we can use sport as something meaningful that would impact positively on the people. I will be doing my best to assist the cricket moving forward and also other sporting disciplines, as I take a closer look at what is needed.”
