Central loses 4 key men for final
Central will go into today's title match of the Senior Interzone T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) 50 Overs Tournament, against South East missing four key players including skipper Denesh Ramdin. The final will take place at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Balmain, Couva and the first ball will be bowled at 10 am.
Nicolas Pooran, Kjorn Ottley, Kissoondath Magram and Ramdin are all out for varying reasons, but manager Narine Bidhesi is still very confident that his team has enough fire-power to claim the title. "We have lost four top players but our bowling has not really been affected and we have enough batting to pull us through. Imran Khan who is now the captain will have to put his hand up. He has had two unbeaten knocks so far, so we look forward to a good performance from him.
"We also have Mark Deyal who has been in good form with bat and ball and also Saiba Batoosingh who had two very good innings." Coming in for the four players are Yannick Ottley, Kadesh Samlalsingh, Kirston Thurton and Natwan Lutchman.
South East is coached by the young and upcoming Faoud Bassarath and that team is expected to bring in Mumbai Indians opener Evin Lewis, Windies batsman Jason Mohammed and Windies fast bowler Shannon Gabriel in its quest to celebrate as champions.
Chairman of the tournament organising committee Patrick Rampersad says that the two teams in the finals really deserve to be there. "Both these teams have performed the best in the tournament and they deserve to be in the finals. We expect a keen final and we look forward to top quality cricket. This tournament has been a success and we are hoping for a grand end to it."
